In between Liverpool’s two cathedrals on the hill above the docks you will find a little early Victorian terrace of six houses on a quiet street. This year, Sarah and Glenn Whitter quietly opened a high-class four-room B&B at No 2 of the terrace, set back from the street on a cobbled drive and hidden behind lime trees. There is no sign to the B&B. Sarah, a former primary school teacher, and Glenn, an interior designer, property developer, musician and composer, have gone for the low-key, discreet approach.

2 Blackburne Terrace is a tasteful oasis that’s bound to go down well with the Wallpaper* crowd.
Nine out of Ten
This is a top-quality B&B, great fun and perfect for a quiet hideaway.
